Asthma is a long-term lung condition that affects one in nine Australians, one of the highest rates in the world. It has a significant impact on people's health, quality of life and the health care system.
Despite the high prevalence, the causes of asthma are still not entirely understood and are something researchers at HMRI and beyond are working to resolve.

Join us for a community seminar that focuses on asthma, how it can be assessed and managed, as well as what our research has shown when it comes to the impact of environmental factors such as COVID-19, bushfires and thunderstorms on asthma.
We'll also explore future directions and resources for asthma research and treatments, including the recently launched Centre of Research Excellence in Asthma Treatable Traits - a research collaboration based in Newcastle that aims to investigate personalised approaches to asthma treatments.

Featuring presentations by Professor Vanessa McDonald, Professor Peter Wark, Dr Alex Gordon, and Dr Vanessa Clark.
The seminar will also feature a Q&A session.
