Indigenous Australians suffer from an extremely high incidence of chronic kidney disease compared with non-Indigenous people. Low birth weight, prematurity, and repeated infections all contribute to this high level of kidney disease. This project will test whether the levels of a protein called angiotensinogen in the urine during pregnancy predicts long term maternal renal and cardiovascular health. This project has widespread application for all women and would be a significant long term contribution to women’s health.
