The main objective is to expand upon our preliminary findings to fully characterise the effects of smoking and infection on the rate of βA formation and brain pathology and how these risk factors affect cognitive behavioural responses (Aim 1) and discover the cellular and molecular processes that underpin these changes (Aim 2). If we can identify these processes we may be able to target them with new therapies for the treatment/prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.
