miRNA can have many targets, and algorithms can only predict the most likely. By using a combination of these algorithms (TargetScanHuman 6.2, PicTar and MIRanda), the most probable targets of the miRNA will be identified and these can be compiled in a customised gene expression assay. By confirming the targets of the miRNA and identifying what impact this has on how the cells function, we will have a better understanding of what occurs in the MS brain during progression.
