This project aims to confirm or refute the predicted targets of the deregulated miRNA and determine the functional impact this has on cellular behaviour in the MS brain.

miRNA can have many targets, and algorithms can only predict the most likely. By using a combination of these algorithms (TargetScanHuman 6.2, PicTar and MIRanda), the most probable targets of the miRNA will be identified and these can be compiled in a customised gene expression assay. By confirming the targets of the miRNA and identifying what impact this has on how the cells function, we will have a better understanding of what occurs in the MS brain during progression.
