Premature ovarian failure (POF) is the early loss of ovarian function before age 40.

The exact cause of premature ovarian failure remains unknown. Often the problem is present from birth but can also develop later post-puberty. Premature ovarian failure impacts on fertiltiy, but also has implications for lifelong health, including increased rates of osteoporosis. This project will unravel the complex cellular signalling pathways altered when a woman experiences premature ovarian failure.
