What began in 1998 as a bold vision to improve community wellbeing in the Hunter Region of NS
Despite all the amazing progress being made towards improving health outcomes in today’s society there’s a more pressing need for medical research than ever. Chronic disease rates are mostly soaring due to factors like ageing and physical inactivity.
Shanthi’s focus is to manage the development and implementation of a number of key projects under HMRI’s 2015-2019 Strategic Plan. She brings to the role strong stakeholder engagement and commercial experience and a legal background, from a career that spans both private and public sectors.
Prior to joining HMRI, Shanthi served as Commercial Manager and Company Secretary for the Hunter Valley Coal Chain, providing strategic leadership in a fast-paced and complex work environment with multiple stakeholders. She was previously the Regional Executive Officer for the (then) NSW Department of Family & Community Services and has held various policy and project roles, including with Newcastle Port Corporation and the NSW Office for Science and Medical Research.
With a long-standing commitment to the not-for-profit sector, Shanthi is now working to build and maintain enduring relationships with all key HMRI stakeholders.
