Childhood obesity: the latest thinking on how to make a difference

HMRI and The University of Newcastle nutrition and dietetics researcher Laureate Professor Clare Collins chats with ABC Radio.

In 1975, rates of childhood obesity were at four percent. By 2016, they'd risen to 18 percent. So what changes could help turn these rates of increase around?

An Australian-led, international research study reviewed more than 100 dietary interventions for children and adolescents living with obesity to investigate which approaches were most effective in improving dietary intake.

The paper, Impact of weight management nutrition interventions on dietary outcomes in children and adolescents with overweight or obesity: A systematic review with meta-analysis, was published in the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics.

We discuss the results.
