Quiz brain and mental health experts at free seminar

May 14 2009

Members of the community will have the chance to quiz brain and mental health experts at a free health seminar on Thursday May 21.

The seminar will be led by Hunter researchers with expertise in mental illness, memory problems, anxiety, addictions, stroke, dizziness and chronic pain. It is presented by the University of Newcastle’s Priority Research Centre for Brain and Mental Health as part of the 2009 Hunter Central Coast Innovation Festival.

“Hunter researchers and their colleagues worldwide have an in depth knowledge of these conditions and are at the forefront of developing new treatments and therapies,” said Associate Professor Chris Levi, Director of the Centre.

“This will be a chance for the community to ask questions about health issues that interest them and are relevant to their friends and family members.

“The speakers will cover a range of health issues from early detection of mental illness to the effectiveness of new stroke treatments.”

The seminar will take place on May 21 in the Mulubinba Room at Newcastle Town Hall from 6pm to 8pm. For more information visit hmri.net .au.
