The only thing brighter than the spring sunshine at Newcastle's Nobbys Beach tomorrow afternoon [September 22] will be the sea of fluoro clothing and painted faces meandering along the Breakwall for the 2018 Glow Walk.
Supporting the Hunter Transplant Research Foundation (HTRF), the annual event begins at 4pm with registrations, face painting and zumba. The walk itself starts at 5pm, preceding a barbecue at 5.30pm.
It’s a gentle 2km stroll in your most colourful gear, signifying the restored ‘glow’ that patients usually feel after receiving a transplant. Cost is $25 adult (17yrs+), $10 child (5-16yrs) and $60 Family (2 adults & 2 children). Children under 5 are free.
You can also enter a team in Trivia for Transplant, beginning around 7pm. It’s $20 per person with a maximum of 10 on each team. Drinks will be available at the bar on the night (no BYO).
Transplant researchers at HMRI are continuing to work on aspects such as chronic rejection, tolerance and possible cancer risks, with generous funding from the HTRF.
