The Ski 4 Kids with Cancer fleet arrived in Newcastle Harbour yesterday afternoon, completing a 100 kilometre waterskiing adventure from Shelly Beach, Manly to Honeysuckle.
The annual event is the brainchild of Hunter Businessman, Glenn Geary with the aim to raise much needed funds for the vital research conducted by HMRI into the most common type of childhood cancer, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (A.L.L).
Geary, proprietor of the Good Guys Kotara, his brother Brad Geary, along with driver Scott Curtis completed the epic journey with a fleet of 16 other boats and crews, each paying an entry fee for the event, which will be donated to HMRI.
Funds raised through the event will help local researchers better understand the genetic risk factors that lead to acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
