Rebecca Palser’s role is to raise the profile of the HMRI and secure unencumbered, philanthropic funds for medical research, overseeing functions which include: internal and external communications, media and public relations, fundraising, community fundraising and gift governance administration.
Rebecca’s qualifications and experience include market research, sales, marketing and fundraising with a particular interests in medical philanthropy and major gift fundraising.
Rebecca has previously worked for Nielsen Media (market research), Emap (magazine and website publishers), and Director of Development and Marketing at Tara Anglican School For Girls and The University of Notre Dame Australia; more recently Rebecca was Associate Director of Development at the University of Sydney, helping to secure transformational gifts for the Sydney Medical School and Faculty of Pharmacy. Rebecca enjoys the complexities and nuances of working in an three-way partnership environment requiring significant stakeholder engagement and support.
Beyond HMRI Rebecca enjoys cycling, golf, practical philosophy, art and is an enthusiastic amateur photographer. Rebecca has represented Australia in two sports, hockey and fencing, including the commonwealth championships and world championships and won several Australian Championship medals in fencing. Rebecca has also served in honorary board positions and shared her marketing and fundraising experience with several not for profit organisations.
