I am an ED consultant at John Hunter Hospital. I am also one of our directors of emergency medicine training.
Due to our high trauma volume and case mix that includes paediatrics, we often attract ED trainees from smaller regional hospitals who have had limited trauma experience. I really enjoy helping them develop their skills and exposure in initial hospital trauma care.
I’m a novice researcher but I have always appreciated research that answers a common and simple clinical question. I’ve also learned the benefit of working in a well established research unit and I’ve been lucky to be involved with the Calvary Mater toxicology service and now the JHH trauma service.
I’d love to answer questions that break down some of the dogmatic interventions we make in the ED phase of trauma care.
