Associate Professor Saad Ramadan is an accomplished researcher and the Director of the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) Imaging Centre, as well as the Imaging Stream Leader of the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) Centre for Brain Cancer Research. Holding a PhD in Physical Chemistry, Dr Ramadan has made significant research strides in cancer diagnostics and multiple sclerosis (MS) through the innovative application of MRI techniques.
With a background that merges physical chemistry and medical imaging, Dr Ramadan has contributed extensively to the understanding and non-invasive diagnosis of various cancers. His research encompasses the use of 2D MRS to identify biochemical markers in glioblastoma, enhancing the knowledge of brain cancer.
Dr Ramadan has also developed advanced MRI spectroscopic imaging techniques for prostate cancer, aiding in the precise detection and classification of cancerous tissues. In breast cancer research, he has utilized localized correlated spectroscopy to detect early metabolic changes in women with BRCA gene mutations, facilitating the early detection of preinvasive states.
Dr Ramadan’s research has been instrumental in advancing diagnostic processes across multiple cancer types, offering non-invasive solutions that improve patient management and treatment outcomes.
