Professor Belinda Liddell

Daphne Keats Chair of Cross-Cultural Psychology, University of Newcastle

Co-founded the Refugee Trauma and Recovery Program at UNSW Sydney to align psychological and clinical sciences to better understand refugee experiences to inform practice and policy.
Led the implementation of the world’s first neuroimaging program into the impact of refugee trauma on the brain.
Developed meaningful partnerships with local and global humanitarian organizations that has enhanced the relevance and impact of my research, including Australian Red Cross and International Committee of the Red Cross.

Professor Belinda Liddell is the Daphne Keats Chair in Cross-Cultural Psychology in the School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Newcastle and the Deputy Director of the Refugee Trauma and Recovery Program at UNSW Sydney.

Her research focuses on building a scientific evidence base for the impact of forced displacement and migration on mental health and the biological, cultural, psychological, and social mechanisms that underlie that impact.
