Dr Prince Atorkey is a Lecturer in Psychological Science at ACAP University College, Sydney, and an Adjunct Lecturer in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle. He is a Senior Clinical Psychologist in Ghana and a Provisional Psychologist in Australia currently completing his transitional program. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK).
Dr Atorkey’s research focuses on multiple health risk behaviours—such as tobacco use, poor diet, risky alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, and overweight/obesity—as well as mental health and health promotion interventions. He has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications with more than 6,000 citations, delivered over 20 national and international presentations, and actively collaborates with researchers worldwide. He also serves as a peer reviewer for several international journals.
He earned his PhD in Behavioural Science in Relation to Medicine from the University of Newcastle, Australia, where his thesis explored health risk factors and mental health challenges among Technical and Further Education (TAFE) students. Prior to this, he completed a Master of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology at the University of Cape Coast.
