After 2 years of planning and waiting, the BorneHMRI team was finally able to make their way across the whole of Costa Rica from coast to coast.

The team travelled 275km on foot, by bike and in kayaks – all to raise money for vital preterm birth research.

BorneHMRI is a science collaboration between Hunter Medical Research Institute researchers and Borne researchers in the UK dedicated to finding answers and solutions to preterm birth.

On top of the $38,317.90 the team raised from the challenge, close friend and BorneHMRI supporter Dr Simone Scovell also hosted a post trek celebration last week and raised a further $20,800!

A big thank you to Simone’s “Go-To” team for food and catering (Mason Rose), music (Tim Pringle), beverages (Bellevue Hill Bottle Shop) and blooms (Mandalay Flowers).

All donations and funds raised will enable our researchers to conduct life-changing medical research which will provide the solutions to change the outcomes of preterm birth.

Thank you to the BorneHMRI fundraising team for your incredible efforts and thank you to everyone who donated, supported and cheered the team on – all with the aim to change the outcomes for more preterm babies.
