This work will be vital in identifying novel drivers of disease that can be targeting with novel therapies. This funding will help him to travel during the final year of his PhD to present his work at national and international conferences and visiting laboratories of predominant respiratory researchers in the USA and United Kingdom in order to learn new techniques that will not only enhance his research but that of his research team at HMRI. He will also develop collaborations with appropriate national and international research groups and institutions, to extend his work and enhance his publications. This will put him in a more competitive position when applying for Post-doctoral Fellowships in 2017.
The Greaves Family Postgraduate Scholarship in Medical Research will allow James Pinkerton to complete his PhD studies to understand the mechanisms that underpin steroid-resistant asthma.
