STROKE kills and disables 1000 Australians every week. A rapid response saves lives and preserves brain tissue, body function and wellbeing for the patient and their family.
There is a need to accurately diagnose and treat the various forms of stroke in the most time effective and non-invasive manner.
A collaborative research team, from the University of Newcastle’s teaching hospital, John Hunter Hospital, Ambulance Service of NSW and HMRI, plan to conduct a worldfirst clinical trial to research and refine a new medical device that could revolutionise acute stroke care and improve recovery.
