Did you know? Dementia is now the leading cause of death in Australia and currently affects around 433,000 people.
It’s predicted that the number of Australians with dementia will increase to over 1 million people by 2065 and affect women at nearly twice the rate of men.
Research is advancing rapidly, and quality of life can be significantly improved with the right support, care approaches, and emerging treatments.
HMRI is bridging the gap between research and care
Families and individuals in our community need access to the latest dementia knowledge and care innovations. Australia is home to world-leading dementia research. Discoveries exist that we want to get to the people who need them – faster.
We’re creating a first-of-its-kind initiative that will help turn cutting-edge research into practical tools and support for people living with dementia, their families, and healthcare providers in the Hunter New England region, and beyond.
We’re inviting you to help shape this initiative.
Your insights, experiences, and expertise are essential to creating something truly responsive to community needs.
You can help by completing our short survey.
