Researchers from the University of Newcastle, University of Sydney and Hunter Medical Research Institute are developing a digital tool to help people quickly and easily track mental health – MindPulse.
Researchers have developed an early prototype of the MindPulse tool and are seeking feedback from our community. We invite you to take part in this research by completing the survey below.
Why is this research being done?
Our vision is that through MindPulse, a large and engaged group of community members representing the diversity of the Australian population will create a real-time profile of the mental health and wellbeing of Australians that can be used to mobilise mental health supports when and where it is needed most.
We are conducting this research in order to obtain feedback from community members on an early prototype of the MindPulse tool.
We are interested in understanding:
- how long it takes to complete the survey items, and
- whether the questions we plan to ask are suitable for a brief measure of wellbeing that is designed to be completed regularly and on an ongoing basis.
Our ultimate goal is to create a tool that allows individuals to quickly and easily track and visualise their own mental health and wellbeing over time, in a secure and safe environment.
This information will be de-identified and aggregated to provide governments, healthcare providers, and policy makers with access to new, relevant, reliable, and actionable knowledge of the mental health and wellbeing of the populations they serve.
This knowledge will be used to inform policy decisions and support efficient and effective allocation of mental health resources to areas that are most in need of help.
Who can participate?
You can take part if you:
- Can read and understand English
- Are aged 18 years or older
- Are living in Australia
What would you be asked to do?
If you are interested in participating, we will first ask you some questions to determine your eligibility, and then invite you to provide your informed consent to participate in the study.
Once your eligibility is confirmed and informed consent is received, the online survey will ask you questions about your:
- Demographics (no identifying information will be gathered)
- Wellbeing, including general mental health
- Opinions about the acceptability and usability of certain questions that we have asked you throughout the survey
- Your preferences around digital health technologies
How much time will it take?
The time to complete the research is expected to take around 15-20 minutes, but it may take you more or less time depending on your experiences and circumstances.
