HMRI would like to congratulate Dr Vanessa McDonald who has been named December researcher of the month by The School of Nursing and Midwifery at The University of Newcastle.
Doctor Vanessa McDonald is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery and holds a Conjoint Senior Lecturer appointment in the School of Medicine and Public Health. She is a practicing clinician as a respiratory clinical nurse consultant in the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at John Hunter Hospital.
Vanessa also works as a post doctoral researcher and node leader in the HMRI’s VIVA programme and the Priority Research Centre for Asthma & Respiratory Disease.
She has a national reputation as an accomplished and innovative clinician in respiratory disease management. As an early career researcher she has already developed an exceptional track record in both publication and research funding. She is now two years post-doctoral and has published over 20 peer reviewed manuscripts (including The Lancet, Thorax, AJRCCM, Clin Exp Allergy and ERJ), in addition to 2 book chapters, and many national reports and guidelines.
