With more than a decade of experience, the NPH CTU has emerged as a dynamic and proactive Clinical Trials Unit operating within the private hospital setting. Led by a team of distinguished local oncologists including Dr. Tony Bonaventura, Dr. Janine Lombard, Dr. James Lynam, Dr. Girish Mallesara, and Dr. Hiren Mandaliya, the unit actively participates in a wide range of local, national, and international studies, covering various cancer types such as brain, gastrointestinal, lung, and gynaecological, including prevention, screening, and treatment trials.
At the heart of the NPH CTU's mission is the provision of high-quality clinical trial opportunities for cancer patients in a private hospital environment. To achieve this, the unit has fostered robust and unique multidisciplinary relationships, particularly with the University of Newcastle Platform - NSW Regional Bio-specimen & Research Services, located within HMRI. This collaboration, spanning close to five years, has significantly contributed to the successful conduct of over 15 different clinical trials at Newcastle Private Hospital.
"We are thrilled to receive the Outstanding Clinical Trial Site Award from ANZGOG," said Julie Charlton, NPH Clinical Trial Unit Manager. "This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our exceptional team. We are proud to contribute to the advancement of oncology research and provide our patients with access to groundbreaking treatments."
The partnership with the NSW Regional Bio-specimen & Research Services has enabled the NPH CTU to leverage their expertise and cutting-edge facilities for processing, storage, and provision of research blood samples, as well as the availability of archival tissue specimens. This high-level service excellence has been instrumental in facilitating the smooth operation and delivery of clinical trials at Newcastle Private Hospital.
