At HMRI, we are continuing to invest in and enhance our clinical trial capabilities and infrastructure to support researchers, clinicians, and commercial partners to deliver streamlined clinical trials.

The NSW Government has invested $835 million in the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct.
Our region is serviced by one major metropolitan hospital (John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle), over 300 general practices, and a variety of hospitals and medical centres supporting regional and rural communities.Â
Additionally, the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct project will deliver an innovative and integrated precinct with purpose-built clinical trial facilities.
This will enhance the connection and clinical trial efficiencies between HMRI and the John Hunter Hospital. The Precinct is scheduled for completion in 2026 and will house an early phase clinical trial unit.
