Dr Andrea Coda completed his undergraduate training in Podiatry in 2007 at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. He worked extensively in private clinics focusing on podopaediatrics, diabetes, and sports injuries while also serving as an academic and researcher at Queen Margaret University.
His PhD research involved a multi-centre randomised controlled trial on the effectiveness of foot orthoses for Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), contributing valuable cost-effective evidence for paediatric rheumatology teams.
In July 2013, Dr Coda joined the University of Newcastle’s School of Health and Science, where he coordinates and lectures across all program years, including clinics, lectures, and tutorials. He is the course coordinator for the End-Hons Research Program, which equips students with essential research skills.
From 2015 to 2017, he served as the Research Ethics Advisor for the Faculty of Health and Medicine and as a member of the Human Research Ethics Committee at UON.
Dr Coda is an active member of the Priority Research Centre for Health Behaviour at the Hunter Medical Research Institute.
In 2016, he established strategic links with the European Dementia Consortium and contributed as an Associate Investigator to a successful NHMRC grant aimed at developing a web-based program for dementia care in rural areas.
Passionate about eHealth, Dr Coda undertook two International Fellowships in Europe.
In 2018, he was appointed Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of Manresa-Barcelona and became a key international funding member at the Research and Innovation eHealth Centre, fostering new industry connections and expanding research investments in paediatric rheumatology, diabetes, and dementia.
