Dr Edwina Mingay is an Early Career Researcher at the University of Newcastle’s School of Medicine and Public Health.
Following a career as a senior accountant in the private industry (primarily book publishing), Edwina pursued further education and completed a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietitics with Class 1 Honours (awarded in 2014) and obtained her PhD in public health nutrition (awarded in 2024).
In between educational pursuits, Edwina worked as a private practice dietitian providing dietetic care to clients, and as a Research Assistant developing and delivering education modules for a community-based nutrition education program for older adults.
During this time, Edwina was drawn to the research world. Her primary area of interest is within the public health arena and the health and wellbeing of adolescents. This was reflected in her PhD program titled Food Culture of Australian Adolescents – What We Know and Where We Need to Go.
Edwina’s goal is to integrate work and life experiences with research to support the advancement of people’s health, wellbeing, aspirations, and continued learning.
