Research Programs

Dr. Hayley See is the Head of Public Affairs, Research and Operation at the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ). She is part of the TSANZ leadership team and oversees portfolios providing research and infrastructure to support evidence generation, research awards, identify gaps in knowledge, and advocates to drive change in policy and systems. With this work Dr See seeks to engage with professional communities and works with her team to translate knowledge into policy events and positions, influencing decision-makers to improve quality of life.

In recent years she has facilitated long-term advocacy projects and collaborations with expert members and aligned organisations to achieve significant positive outcomes in Australia, including vaping reforms, the banning of engineered stone, and the deployment of lung cancer screening in Australia.

Dr See trained at the University of Newcastle and has a clinical cell biology research background in respiratory medicine (BBiomedSc [Hons] 2006) & was awarded a PhD in Medicine in 2014.
Dr See joined TSANZ as a Research Manager in 2015 and later obtained a Grad Dip in Public Health (Health, Safety, and Environment) from Queensland University of Technology (2018).

Dr See now works predominantly in supporting the professional lung health community, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and management, activities to influence policy, and strategic partnerships.
Dr See holds an Adjunct Associate Lecturer position at the University of Newcastle and is a researcher affiliated with the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI). Dr See is a professional member of the Australasian Research Management Society. Dr See is available to work with research teams to ensure applicable co-design and planning for key translational activities.
