Dr Jackie Iredale is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Behavioural Neuroscience Group, led by Dr Lizzie Manning, Dr Erin Campbell and Professor Christopher Dayas. The work of the group focuses on understanding the neural mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders such as depression, substance use disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder and Tourette’s syndrome.

Jackie’s work currently focuses on two projects; investigation of the therapeutic mechanisms underlying transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders, and investigating the effects of stress and threat on specific brain regions and circuits using in vivo calcium imaging approaches.

Prior to commencing her role in the Behavioural Neuroscience Group, Jackie completed a PhD (Human Physiology) in the Spinal Cord Connections Lab led by Professor Brett Graham.

Her PhD work focused on developing improved preclinical models of pain, both in vitro and in vivo, aiming to better understand the mechanisms underlying pain processing and to investigate the actions of known and novel analgesics. This work included an industry collaboration, utilising one of the models developed during her PhD to investigate the actions of novel cannabinoid compounds on spinal cord pain circuity.
