Dr Sally Sweeney is a specialist General Practitioner and clinician researcher who graduated from the University of NSW in 2003 and has over 20 years clinical experience.
Sally is Medical Lead at Family Planning Australia Research Centre and is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer with the School of Medicine & Public Health, University of Newcastle. Additionally, Sally works in private General Practice, on the GP Access after hours clinic roster and is a Visiting Medical Officer with the Hunter New England Voluntary Assisted Dying Service.
She has been a past clinical examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and is a current RACGP Registrar Supervisor.
She has several peer reviewed publications in sexual and reproductive health and is currently a Chief Investigator on several NHMRC research grant projects related to equity of cervical screening for people with intellectual disability, data linkage to improve HPV screening and vaccination, and testicular cooling to improve male fertility outcomes.
She also has a strong research interest in the impact of the female genital tract microbiome and it’s impact on gynaecological disease, her work to date has focused on association with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease.
