Clare Collins AO is Laureate Professor, Nutrition and Dietetics, College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing, University of Newcastle, and Co-Director, Food and Nutrition Research Program, Hunter Medical Research Institute.

As an internationally distinguished leader in nutrition and dietetics, her research performance places her in the top 1% most cited scientists globally.

Laureate Professor Collins was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia in 2023 for distinguished service to health research in nutrition and dietetics, scientific organisations and science communication.

In 2024, she was awarded the University of Newcastle Alumni Medical for outstanding professional excellence. Career outputs include over $33 million research funding, more than 600 journal articles, and over 50 Research Higher Degree candidates supervised.

A trailblazer in her field, Clare was ranked highest female Investigator Grant in 2021 for her research in Personalised Nutrition. For this achievement she was awarded the prestigious National Health and Medical Research Council, Elizabeth Blackburn Award for Leadership in Clinical Medicine and Science.

Her research evaluates the impact of nutrition interventions based on life stage and chronic disease conditions, including heart disease and type 2 diabetes. The personalised nutrition eHealth tools she has invented, including the Australian Eating Survey and the Healthy Eating Quiz, have broad reach and impact on improving eating patterns, diet-related health and wellbeing.
