Mitchell Budden (BPharm GradCertPharmPrac ANZCAP-Reg. (CommPharm, Lead&Mgmt) MPS AdPha MACP) is currently completing his PhD at the University of Newcastle.
His research is exploring ways to define, support and implement the concept expanding scope of practice for pharmacists. He is a registered pharmacist and has significant experience in various fields in pharmacy.
Mitchell’s research interests encompass the future of community pharmacy in current and emergent national and international settings.
He has additional expertise in primary health care, pharmacy practice, health services research, knowledge translation and implementation of services.
Mitchell has been actively involved as a Research Assistant in the implementation and evaluation of the state-wide roll out of expanded scope of practice for pharmacists, to increase access to care for patients in NSW for clinical conditions such as urinary tract infections, oral contraception and skin conditions.
The results of these trials will have a major impact on the delivery of primary health care in Australia and the scope of practice of pharmacists, nationally and internationally.
Mitchell is a strong advocate for optimising the role of the pharmacists. His work aims to deliver evidence-based solutions that will enable pharmacists to maximise their impact on patient health outcomes, ultimately advancing the profession both in Australia and internationally.
