Tagimoucia T. Yavalanavanua is an Indigenous Fijian woman deeply committed to education and sustainable development. Her career has encompassed a range of roles, including university lecturer, high school teacher, and educational leader. She is dedicated to fostering growth and development within higher education and her community.
Currently, Tagimoucia is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Health and Behavioural Science at the University of Newcastle. Her research is a multi-disciplinary project focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and perspectives on Fijian higher education.
She is an alumna of The University of the South Pacific, where she completed a Master’s, Postgraduate, and Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Economics.
She has served as a lecturer at Fiji National University and has acted as Head of Department (HOD).
Prior to this, she worked as a high school teacher with the Fijian Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts, holding leadership roles in secondary schools in Fiji, including HOD Commerce.
Tagimoucia is currently a committee member for the School of Medicine & Public Health’s HDR Festival at the University of Newcastle and executive committee member of the Hunters Medical Research Institute student society.
