Professor Beata Bajorek

Clinical Academic Pharmacist

Research Programs

Professor Beata Bajorek is a Clinical Academic Pharmacist at the University of Newcastle, the Hunter Medical Research Institute, and the Hunter New England Local Health District. Her research focuses on the quality of medicine, particularly optimising pharmacotherapy, medication safety, risk assessment in high-risk patients, and advanced pharmacy practice.

With over 25 years of experience, Beata has cardiovascular and stroke care expertise, serving as a member of HMRI’s Heart and Stroke Program. Her work in clinical research draws on implementation science and clinical trial methodology, aiming to generate evidence for practice change and improvement. She has contributed to the Heart Foundation and National Stroke Foundation clinical guidelines and has over 15 years of experience on Human Research Ethics Committees, including as Chair.

As a clinical pharmacist, Beata has worked in both hospital and community settings, including conjoint roles at Royal North Shore Hospital.

As an educator, she has developed and delivered courses across various universities in pharmacotherapy, clinical practice, and research methods. She has mentored numerous health practitioners and researchers.

Beata has supervised over 25 Higher Degree Research candidates and numerous student projects. She is open to supervising health researchers interested in the quality use of medicines and clinical research.
