Dr Eleanor Majellano is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre of Excellence in Treatable Traits and the Asthma Australia Research Fellow. With more than seven years of experience in clinical and translational research in airway diseases, she is dedicated to advancing person-centred care and embedding consumer voices and lived experience into research, service redesign, and healthcare improvement. Her work focuses on developing more personalised, effective, and equitable models of care for people living with obstructive airway diseases.
Dr Majellano’s research integrates mixed methods approaches with meaningful community and stakeholder engagement, generating evidence that is both scientifically rigorous and deeply grounded in patient priorities. She has authored 15 peer-reviewed publications in Q1 journals, most as first author, and has secured over $1.8 million in competitive research funding. In 2023, she played a central role in delivering Australia’s first National Priority Setting Partnership in asthma, an initiative that brought together consumers, clinicians, and policymakers to identify the nation’s most important research priorities.
At a national level, Dr Majellano contributes her expertise as an Expert Consumer Panel Advisor to the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF), supporting the Preventive and Public Health Research Initiative for chronic respiratory conditions.
She completed her PhD in Nursing at the University of Newcastle, where she developed a person-centred model of care for people with severe asthma. She also holds a Master of Public Health from Curtin University, awarded through the prestigious and highly competitive Endeavour Awards Australia.
