Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) is an independent medical research institute located within the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct.

HMRI is a partnership between the University of Newcastle, Hunter New England Local Health District and the community. More than 1700 researchers, students and staff are affiliated with HMRI, bringing together a diverse ecosystem dedicated to high quality, relevant and ethical health and medical research.

The HMRI Executive oversees the operational activities of the organisation, and ensures HMRI maintains high standards of commercial, financial management, ethical and charitable governance principles. The HMRI Board governs the institute, oversees our policies and guides our strategic direction.

HMRI is a company limited by guarantee (ABN 27 081 436 919).
