Hear her story below...

Stroke can happen to anyone at anytime

A miracle didnโ€™t save her life. It was medical research.

Crystal was given Tenecteplase right when she needed it most. Thatโ€™s because our researchers are also embedded within the health service.
HMRIโ€™s stroke trial found that two-thirds of patients treated with the trial drug, Tenecteplase, had major neurological improvements within a day. And 3 months later, 75% of patients experienced excellent or good recovery

Our clinical trial for stroke delivered a breakthrough treatment that has become the standard practice globally.

Because of HMRI, our world-famous researchers and clinicians have made significant breakthroughs in preventing and understanding stroke.

However, the Australian Government funds only 8% of our medical research grant applications each year, meaning 92% of HMRI researchers are knocked back. Even outstanding ideas that could improve care, prevent disease, or save lives have less than a 1 in 10 chance of being funded through traditional grant schemes.
