Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, the 2024 HMRI Art Series Exhibition has raised an incredible $72,000 through its art auction, Meet the Artists event, Long Lunch, and direct donations. 

This successful HMRI event brought together local artists, researchers, and community supporters to celebrate a shared commitment to health and innovation, with all proceeds going towards HMRI’s ongoing mission to transform community health and wellbeing. 

Dr. Giavanna Angeli, HMRI’s Head of Philanthropy, expressed gratitude for the continued community support.  

“The Art Series Exhibition has become a great example of how art and community spirit can fuel health innovation. Each donation, bid, and ticket purchased directly empowers HMRI to pursue groundbreaking research that benefits countless lives. We are profoundly grateful to every individual who helped make this event such a resounding success,” said Giavanna.  

This year’s Art Series featured over 50 local artists, including Artist in Residence Tyler Dan and her piece, The Tyranny of Sensitivity, which was inspired by Professor Zsolt Balogh’s cutting-edge trauma research.  

“Our generous community has shown once again that they believe in HMRI’s mission. Events like these not only uplift our local artists but provide essential funding that allows HMRI to be agile in pursuing the most pressing health solutions. We’re thrilled with the turnout and the impact this event will have,” said Amy-Lea Pettigrew, Chair of the HMRI Foundation Special Events Committee.  

This year’s auction also honoured the talent and generosity of local artists, with up to 30% of the market price returned to the artist and the rest supporting HMRI’s mission. This partnership exemplifies how art, science, and community can come together to make a lasting difference.
