Dr Lee‑Ann Jacobs‑Nzuzi Khuabi is an Occupational Therapist and Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle, whose research focuses on improving the experiences and outcomes of individuals living with acquired brain injury, including traumatic brain injury (TBI) and stroke. Her work centres the perspectives of consumers—people with lived experience of neurological injury and their families—to understand how they navigate rehabilitation pathways and interact with healthcare systems.

Dr Jacobs Nzuzi Khuabi’s research highlights gaps in continuity of care, the emotional and social impacts of brain injury, and the need for more person‑centred, culturally responsive, and equitable models of support. She is committed to embedding lived experience in service design and policy development to strengthen rehabilitation practice and enhance long‑term outcomes for those affected by brain injury.
