Investment in the development of the next generation of researchers through mentorship and leadership
Awarded $5,000 of additional research funding within the first 6 months of her PhD

Piper Miller is a PhD researcher investigating novel strategies to prevent preterm birth under Associate Professor Jonathan Paul. Her research focuses on understanding and regulating progesterone in the pregnant uterus (myometrium), a key biological process that governs the transition from pregnancy to labour.

Piper’s work centres on epigenetic therapeutics to restore pregnancy and suppress uterine contractions. Through this translational research, Piper seeks to address a critical gap in current obstetric therapeutics and contribute to improved pregnancy outcomes, particularly for disproportionately affected by preterm birth, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
