Professor Josh Davis is a mid-career clinician scientist (PhD 2011, 8 years research FTE post PhD), with expertise in clinical trials, epidemiology and pathophysiology in the field of infectious diseases.
He has over 230 peer-reviewed published papers with more than 14,000 citations and an h-index of 51. His main research interests are improving the use of antibiotics for S.aureus infections, bone and joint infections and sepsis.
He also has emerging expertise in the design and conduct of Bayesian adaptive clinical trials.
Professor Davis is a staff specialist in infectious diseases and general medicine at Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital, and a Professor in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle. He is the founding director (and current deputy-director) of the HMRI Infection Research Program. He is also a past president of the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases, and past panel chair of the National COVID-19 Evidence Taskforce.
