Are you living with type 2 diabetes and taking a GLP-1 medication like Ozempic, Trulicity or Mounjaro? Researchers want to see if telehealth support from a dietitian can help people improve their eating patterns and blood glucose levels alongside their medication.
Find out more and join.
Why is the research being done?
Researchers want to understand if telehealth (video-conferencing) with a dietitian helps adults with type 2 diabetes using GLP-1 medications improve their eating patterns and blood glucose control more compared to just taking the medication alone.
Who can participate in the research study?
Adults living with type 2 diabetes using GLP-1 medication (e.g., Ozempic, Trulicity, Mounjaro) that are able to travel to the University of Newcastle Callaghan Campus can participate in this research study.
What will study participants be asked to do?
All participants will need to attend 2 in-person sessions (1.5 hours per session) at the University of Newcastle Callaghan Campus for physical measurements (e.g., height, weight, blood pressure), have 2 fasting blood tests and complete 5 online surveys. Participants randomly assigned to the intervention group will receive up to 5 telehealth dietitian consults over a 3-month period. Those assigned to the control group will receive up to 2 telehealth dietitian consults over 6 weeks when the research study has finished.
