As an early career researcher, Dr Emily Cox has an emerging track record in exercise for people with chronic health conditions. Specifically, she seeks to:

1. Understand and influence the role of exercise in the prevention and management of metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and obesity
2. Identify strategies to enable people to adopt and adhere to optimal levels of self-directed exercise in the long-term
3. Enhance the delivery of exercise interventions in clinical practice via the development of exercise guidelines, optimisation of the scope and use of compensable schemes such as Medicare, and improved access to Accredited Exercise Physiologists

Emily has significant clinical experience designing and delivering exercise interventions, having worked as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist in chronic disease management for over a decade.

Her strong clinical background has driven her passion for conducting pragmatic trials and bridging the gap between research and practice. To assist this, Emily prioritises disseminating research to the scientific community, healthcare professionals and the public.

Emily has expertise in cardiometabolic health and fitness assessments including bloods, body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness, vascular health (e.g., central blood pressures, arterial stiffness), muscular strength and physical function, in addition to the prescription of exercise for the management of various chronic health conditions.
