Susan Heyman is the Executive Director of Operations for Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD), responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of integrated rural, regional, and metropolitan health services across one of the largest and most diverse health districts in New South Wales.
Her portfolio encompasses oversight of acute, subacute, and community services, including the John Hunter Tertiary service, major referral hospitals, district and community facilities, Multi-Purpose Services (MPS), and a wide range of Integrated Care and Virtual Care services. Susan oversees the Clinical Networks and Streams for the District ensuring consistency, innovation, and equity of care across the region.
With qualifications in Social Work, a Master’s in Social Policy from the University of New South Wales, and a Law degree, Susan has held clinical, managerial, and policy roles across health services. She is deeply committed to equitable, efficient, and high-quality healthcare, with a leadership approach grounded in social justice, consumer participation, cross-sector collaboration, and the responsible use of public resources.
