HMRI researcher and ICU nurse, Jessica Stokes-Parish, explains how to wash your hands with soap and water to remove COVID-19 and other germs.
All you need to wash your hands is soap and water says HMRI researcher and ICU nurse Jessica Stokes-Parish. The soap dislodges any germs and virus, and knocks it off your hand, and the water washes it down the drain.
When washing our hands, there are a couple of key areas we tend to miss: the webbing between the fingers, the fingernails and the back of the hands. So it’s a good idea to get into a routine of washing your hands in a methodical manner, for at least 20 seconds.
So long as you have lathered up soap and water, you’ve got enough to get rid of the virus off your hands.
Washing your hands regularly is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of the virus. To control the spread, wash your hands before and after eating, after using the bathroom, and before and after leaving the house for any essential errands.
