Dr Catherine Chojenta

Co-director of HMRI’s Women’s Health Research Program,
Co-lead of the Worldwide Wellness of Mothers and Babies research program, that aims to investigate the health and wellbeing of women and their children across the globe.

Dr Catherine Chojenta BA Psych (Hons) PhD, is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle, Australia.
She is a public health researcher with a particular focus on the epidemiology of women’s health and well-being across the life course. She has expertise in a range of research methodologies including mixed methods, quantitative, qualitative and data linkage, and has applied these to produce high quality evidence for those factors that increase women’s risk of poor health and those which are protective of well-being.
Dr Chojenta is an emerging expert in the field of perinatal mental health and has applied a range of methods to determine risk factors for poor perinatal mental health and determinants of long and short term mental health outcomes for women and infants.
