“Dr Emma Axelsson’s research is focused on early cognitive and social development and neurodivergence. Dr Axelsson’s research centres on the cognitive aspects of early child word learning and the role of sleep in children’s learning and memory. She also investigates screen time in early childhood and how that interacts with sleep, learning, and development.

Dr Axelsson’s other research interests include infants’ developing representations of social categories, investigating infants’ detection and recognition of faces and bodies using eye-tracking.
