Dr Michelle Kang is a board-registered Oral Medicine Specialist. She is a Staff Specialist at Sydney Dental Hospital, Visiting Dental Specialist for Hunter New England Local Health District, and Clinical Senior Lecturer in Oral Medicine at Charles Sturt University and the University of Sydney.

Dr Kang completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Otago in 2011, before working as a general dentist across public and private clinics in regional and metropolitan NSW. She completed specialist training at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Oral Medicine.

Her research interests include access to specialist care particularly for regional communities, digital health, and regional models of oral medicine care. Her doctoral research explored health professionals’ perceptions and the clinical manifestations of chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-related oral and oropharyngeal mucositis. She has published in international peer-reviewed journals. In 2022, she was selected for the Research Leadership Training Programme by the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer.

Dr Kang is a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Oral Medicine and serves on the Education and Scientific Committee of the Oral Medicine Academy of Australasia. Her clinical interests include oral manifestations of systemic disease, salivary gland disorders, oral mucosal disease and orofacial pain.
