Associate Professor Renee Goreham is a researcher and science communicator at the University of Newcastle, specialising in nanobiotechnology, biosensors, and advanced diagnostic technologies. She completed her PhD at the University of South Australia in 2014 and has held research positions at Flinders University, the University of South Australia, and Victoria University of Wellington.

Since joining the University of Newcastle in 2019, Associate Professor Goreham has established a multidisciplinary research program focused on developing innovative diagnostic tools for diseases including lung and breast cancer. Her work combines nanotechnology, extracellular vesicle biology, electrochemistry, and advanced materials to create next-generation sensing platforms and non-invasive screening technologies.

Alongside her research, Associate Professor Goreham is passionate about science outreach and equity in STEM. She is recognised for her extensive community engagement, particularly in regional and rural areas, and for inspiring women and young people to pursue careers in science. Her contributions have been acknowledged through awards including a Women in Research Fellowship, the Port Stephens Council International Women’s Day Scholarship, and the Australian Institute of Physics NSW Community Outreach Award.
