Dr Jessica Bennett, a proud Gamilaroi yinarr, a mother, a neonatal Registered Nurse and postdoctoral researcher.

Dr Bennett commenced her PhD (Aboriginal Health Studies) at the University of Newcastle, exploring “The uncharted journey of Aboriginal health in the Neonatal setting”. Bennett submitted her PhD in 2025 and has continued at the University of Newcastle as a Postdoctoral Researcher continuing to explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit environment, with a strong focus on culturally safe care practices and Indigenous led research and leadership to improve the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and their infants in the NICU.
