Professor Andrea Coda is the Head of Discipline and Program Convenor for Podiatry at the University of Newcastle. He is a Senior Researcher at HMRI and an Honorary Allied Health Clinical Academic Conjoint with Hunter New England Local Health District.
Professor Coda also serves as an Advisory Committee Member for the Catalan Government (Ministry of Research and Scientific Health Innovation), is a Fellow at CIFAL Newcastle – United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and an Affiliate of the Central Coast Research Institute (CCRI).

Professor Coda oversees the academic and operational delivery of the Podiatric Medicine program, delivered across Newcastle (Callaghan) and the Central Coast (Ourimbah). The program includes Endorsement for Scheduled Medicines and integrates contemporary, evidence-based podiatry technologies throughout the curriculum. Graduates of the program are recognised as highly competent and workforce-ready, with more than 90% securing employment within four months of graduation.

With over 19 years of international clinical experience across Australia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and India, Professor Coda specialises in the management of lower limb conditions across all age groups. His PhD, completed at Queen Margaret University (Edinburgh, UK), involved a multi-centre randomised controlled trial and provided cost-effective evidence to support the management of children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) within paediatric rheumatology teams.

Professor Coda’s research standing is reflected in his contribution to policy development for the European Pain Federation in digital health, citation in a World Health Organization report on digital health, multiple Cochrane Reviews, and the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health. He is a founding member of the Australian Paediatric Podiatry (APP) group. In 2022, he was elected to the University of Newcastle Academic Senate representing the College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing and appointed as an AHPRA Professional Member for the Podiatry Council of NSW, contributing to clinical panels, hearings, and clinical performance assessments on behalf of the Council. Andrea also serves as an international Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of Manresa, Spain.
