Dr Tracy Schumacher is a rural researcher, based at the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health in Tamworth. Her work aims to improve the health outcomes of people living outside of metropolitan areas. She is a strong advocate for place-based research, and tailoring research to the specific needs of individual communities.
Her areas of research interest include using nutrition as a strategy to prevent diseases or reduce their progression, equitable access to services and resources that promote good health in rural populations, and understanding factors that impact rates of heart disease in rural communities.
